Russell Street School faced a critical challenge with its ageing roof. The replacement of the roof was critical due to the vast majority containing asbestos, this not only posed a safety concern for students and staff but also demanded urgent attention to comply with health and safety regulations. The project consisted of a pitched and flat replacement roof as well as roof lights and detailed leadwork. Stoic Roofing & Construction completed all work whilst taking into account all of the measures to contain and safely removal of asbestos (COSHH). The completed project not only replaced the ageing hazardous roof but also created a safer and more conducive learning environment. The new replacement roof enhanced the school’s structural integrity, improved efficiency and reduced the risk of asbestos exposure. The project was completed during the summer to allow the work to be completed as safely as possible.
